Urgent Doesn't Always Make It Important

I definitely agree with the above title through some recent experiences. This semester has been quite hectic to say the least. I have been juggling all kinds of activities top of them being planning the just concluded Aspire Leadership Conference at UoN, school of business.

Other than Aspire I am a full time student taking marketing as my major. On top of that I am pursuing CPA on a self studies basis. I would be lying if I said I had it all together because the truth of the matter is the struggle has been very real.

I have come to distinguish between urgent and important.  Some matters may seem pressing especially when they have a deadline.  Others may be important but have no deadline and entirely up to you as an individual.

Using examples I would say a pressing assignment may feel urgent especially if you are a last minute person like me. Other aspects of your life are important but you may kick them to the curb in the name of pursuing urgent matters. Such aspects include family, spouse, friends, spirituality and the list goes on.

If we don't stop and try and balance these things we end up neglecting what's really important. I have been acknowledged by some of my friends for being able to bear many things at once. I daresay, I have even been called a role model. Now I am not blatantly saying that it's false but instead saying it's quite a challenge. I do feel overwhelmed at times and sometimes even feel like giving up. My dear boyfriend, family and friends are my support system and it's funny how I sometimes take them for granted.

Everyday I learn something new from my experiences and how I can become better. I sometimes feel alone and that no one gets me but I know that there's an Almighty God having my back.

P.s. if we don't differentiate between the two, we run the risk of letting it spill on further into our lives especially for people like me in campus.  It's now or never!
